So about THAT....
an update on THAT magazine and the life of Lilskapils • 11/2/2025
Hi THAT Mag subscribers!
I set up this substack with high hopes I would be updating everyone regularly about my life, art and THAT Magazine. Of course, that fell by the wayside somewhere in between being an executive assistant, set designer, costume hot gluer and good friend… but we’re here now, and I’ve got some updates!
1. First and foremost, I have opened up submissions for the 9th edition of THAT Magazine: The Body & Soul issue. I’m looking for art inspired by our bodies, our souls and the relationship between the two. I find this duo to be extremely fraught for many, and therefore a great opportunity to use art as an expression and exploration of our feelings. Please spread the word far and wide - all forms of visual and written art are accepted to Dearthatmag@gmail.com by 12/11.
2. If you didn’t know, the place to read / share all 8 editions of THAT magazine is:

3. I have been BUSY working my tail off as an executive assistant but I’ve also been building a set and all props for my friend Spencer Wright’s play: A FUNERAL AT THE PEANUT PATCH. We premiered at Fringe Festival and have completely reworked the show, including a brand new puppet I hot glued out of cardboard, felt, yarn and a whole lot of love! If you’re in the LA area, feel free to check out tickets here: CLICK ME FOR PEANUT PLAY
As far as my personal art goes, I outlined a feature script that I hope to have a draft of by the end of this year. Halloween was a wonderful success both personally and professionally this year as I made my costumes, my partner’s costumes and costumes for 5 friends! I continue to write silly poems and sew random outfits on my Singer. As far as my mentals go, I live with the love of my life, I’m back in therapy and I am cautiously optimistic about the future, despite the obvious pains of existence.
This year has been a tough one - personally, nationally, globally, etc. The weight of the world is heavy and it can be hard to keep trucking along. But I truly feel that through art, community and love we can create purpose for ourselves and make this experience worthwhile.
My hope for future substack releases include early previews of the next editions, personal writings / ramblings from my own mind, fun photographs / visual art and perhaps an essay here or there on the state of the world.
If you have any ideas for me, if you have questions about THAT Mag, if you just need a person to creative brainstorm with, or if you just need a friend, I’d love to hear from you <3
